Growing up, what role did the outdoors and adventures play in shaping who you are today?

I grew up in the Lake District so the outdoors has always played a pivotal role in my life. I also had a very active family and we were lucky to make the most of our beautiful surroundings. I was always encouraged to be adventurous, try new things and challenge yourself and this has stayed with me into adulthood along with ability to prepare for what lies ahead.

Rugby is a tough and physically demanding sport - what lessons has it taught you about perseverance and confidence?

Rugby had taught me so many lessons. I was never the most talented player growing up but I persevered and always applied myself. It also taught me that we are way more capable that we think and to believe in yourself.

You went back to playing rugby 16 weeks after your daughter was born, how do you juggle motherhood and professional sport?

Juggling motherhood and being a professional athlete is incredibly difficult but I have an amazing support network around me of family and friends and my club Bristol Bears I don’t always get the balance right but have learned that it’s about adapting to what works best for me and my family. I always say a happy person makes a good rugby player so I try to put that first.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about Women’s Rugby, and how would you challenge it?

I think a big misconception about women’s rugby is that you have to have played at a young age or that the sport isn’t for you. Rugby is an amazing sport built around teamwork, there is absolutely a position for everybody and I have made some of my best lifelong friends through it. I’d encourage everyone to try it and pick up a ball no matter what age or experience you have with the sport.

Who is your inspirational woman and why?

My inspirational women are my teammates around me and the ones that have paved the way and gone before me. They continually push the game forward and inspire me to be the best version of myself.
